About Jia-Ling Chen

I was born in Taipei, Taiwan in 1992, and graduated in 2015 from university of SHIH HSIN. I studied Graphic Communication and Digital Publication Department, where I became interested in approaches to documentary photography. In order to go further to refine my professional ability and literacy in photography, in Paris where I studied a master class for Creative Documentary & Photojournalism by Magnum Photos at Speos Photographic Institute.

When I pick up the camera, the whole universe seems only myself alone to have a conversation with the time and space. Each time when i press the shutter which let me release myself and see my own existence in this world. Light and shadow allows the photographer to be aware of her presence and explore who i am, also search for the real me. The camera creates the pictures and i create the special moments that i transform the ordinary things into extraordinary and convert the reality into the surreal.
